Became pianist with Rudy Wiedoeft's band, filling theatrical and night-club engagements in U.S. and in London. Played role of pianist in Burlesque, New York stage production and later in screen version of same titled The Dance of Life. Meanwhile studied composition with Schoenberg, theory with Schillinger. Musical arranger and conductor for New York production The American Way 1931. Chosen by George Gershwin to play Gershwin Piano Concerto with New York Philh. Symph.
